Torgon is a small idyllic Swiss village at a height of 1,100 meters overlooking the Rhône valley. The surrounding mountains are part of the Portes du Soleil ski area with easy access to over 400 pistes (ski runs made of compacted snow). Torgon itself has around 81 ski runs. Skiing aficionados from all over Europe come here during winter and the place then is buzzing with activity.
In the summer months activities like hiking, mountain biking, horse riding and paragliding attract another kind of outdoor enthusiast. For those who just want to take it easy and enjoy the panoramic views of the Franco-Swiss Alps on leisurely strolls, these are good months too and many families make the trip each year. The best time to plan a visit is from December to April.
Aigle which means eagle in French is the nearest town that is connected by the efficient Swiss railway network (SBB CFF FFS). From Aigle to Torgon one has to take the CarPostal bus. The last stop in Torgon is called La Jorrette and the 7 km bus ride takes around 45 mins.

A) It is always better to change your Euros to CHF when entering Switzerland as you stand to lose on exchange rates in smaller shops.
B) The Swiss transport system is probably the best and most efficient in the world. Whether it is a bus or train they are always on time so do not expect a bus to make an unscheduled stop for you as you gasp for breath trudging up a mountain road – even if you have gotten quite friendly with the driver
C) Water from public fountains is safe to drink
D) Triposo and Oanda Currency Converter are great apps to have on your smart phone.
E) The Swiss Pass allows you to travel across Switzerland economically by train, bus and boat.
